Timing your heating to off-peak hours can deliver significant savings
-
14% - 24% per year
savings achieved by HeatAdapt during 04.2024 - 03.2025
-
up to 31% per month
with highest savings achieved in Oct 2024
Likely the fastest return on investment for a heating system
HeatAdapt's control algorithms have been developed based on a 12-month study in collaboration with university researchers, involving detailed measurement, modelling and savings rate assessment of survey buildings.

The annual savings are calculated on the basis of a 12-month average savings percentage. Savings were modelled using the most volatile Nord Pool price regions. Actual energy savings may be higher or lower due to the characteristics of the building and heating system, the consumption habits of the residents and fluctuations in dynamic electricity market prices in the specific region.
Benefits of automated price tracking
-
Cost savings
Leverage low hourly electricity prices and decrease energy consumption during peak times, leading to substantial savings on your electricity bill.
-
Convenient
HeatAdapt automatically determines the most efficient heating pattern for each day by analysing hourly electricity prices, weather forecasts, and the building's thermal properties.
-
Environment
By automatically reducing energy use during peak hours, the load on the electricity grid is also reduced. This way, we can consume more green energy.

Web app provides a clear overview and control
- Adjust settings for greater cost savings or enhanced comfort based on your preferences.
- Overview of hourly electricity prices and heating schedules
- Green bars indicate preheating, such as hot water production for the domestic hot water tank.
- During the red hours, heating is limited or restricted to avoid peak prices.
Cutting-edge control algorithm, engineered exclusively for heat pumps
-
Algorithms designed to maximise savings
Leverage low hourly electricity prices and decrease energy consumption during peak times, leading to substantial savings on your electricity bill.
-
Works seamlessly with solar panels
Using solar production forecasts, HeatAdapt accounts for solar panel output and optimises the heating schedule during surplus electricity, increasing self-consumption.
-
COP-based optimisation
HeatAdapt adjusts for outdoor temperature-driven COP changes in air-to-water heat pumps, using sudden shifts in temperature to enhance the benefits of dynamic electricity price optimisation.

More info on HeatAdapt
What is HeatAdapt smart module?
HeatAdapt is specially designed for air-to-water and ground source heat pumps, making it ideal for homes with an hourly variable-rate electricity plan. Heat pumps typically account for 50-80% of annual electricity consumption in most homes, making smart heat pump management a key solution for significantly reducing electricity costs.
The module works by taking into account the hourly electricity price, grid tariff , and weather forecast. HeatAdapt selects the most efficient heating and hot water production patterns based on hourly prices for the day. This ensures heat pump consumption is scheduled during more favorable hours, minimizing the impact of peak prices.
How much can I save on electricity costs with HeatAdapt?
To assess the savings for Nordic homes, a study in collaboration with TalTech University examined more than ten buildings and modelled the average savings when using the HeatAdapt module. Based on they study and Baltic electricity prices in 2024, the results showed average savings of 14% to 24% per year on electricity costs. Monthly savings varied due to fluctuations in electricity market prices, reaching up to 31% per month.
Savings from the HeatAdapt module are specific to each building and will depend on the level of insulation in the building, the heating system as a whole, consumption patterns and future hourly electricity prices on the electricity market.
The study was carried out in cooperation with Estonian TalTech University throughout the 2023/24 heating season. During the course of the study, the behaviour of different heat pumps and buildings under HeatAdapt module management was measured in detail.
How does HeatAdapt work?
Each day HeatAdapt retrieves the hourly electricity market prices and takes into account the weather forecast, grid tariffs, and building and heating system characteristics. Based on this, an individual daily schedule is created for the heat pump.
Based on the heating pattern, HeatAdapt manages the heat pump throughout the day, reducing consumption during the most expensive hours and increasing power during cheaper hours.
Control functions vary based on the heat pump model. HeatAdapt will use all the possible control options provided by the heat pump manufacturer via smart grid or similar inputs to maximize savings.
To find the optimal heating pattern, the HeatAdapt team, in collaboration with TalTech, conducted a study during the 2023/24 heating period, measuring the behavior of more than ten Nordic homes with variable-rate electricity contracts.
Does HeatAdapt take solar PV panels production into account?
HeatAdapt will increase the self-consumption of energy produced by solar panels.
For houses with solar panels, HeatAdapt considers the solar forecast along with the parameters of the solar installation and adjusts the heating pattern to maximize self-consumption.
